Tomb Raider: Catalyst has been delayed once again. The reboot, previously announced for a 2027 release, is now set to release in 2028, according to Wario64.
The news comes as a disappointment for fans who had been waiting years for the next chapter in the reboot trilogy. Crystal Dynamics has not yet commented on the reasons behind the delay, though development timelines for AAA titles often shift as studios refine their scope and quality targets.
The first two entries in the reboot — Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015) — were critically acclaimed. The third, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, concluded the arc in 2018. Catalyst has been in development for several years and was first announced with the 2027 date.
Waiting for the reboot
The delay extends what has already been a long wait for fans of the series. Catalyst was first teased in 2023 and has changed release windows multiple times. A 2028 launch should give the team additional time to polish the game before it reaches players.
